Players eager to try the latest additions can now access the beta through Steam and help shape the final release by reporting bugs and providing feedback to the developers.

Introducing Game Radio

One of the biggest additions arriving in version 1.60 is the brand-new Game Radio system.

Designed to make journeys feel more immersive, Game Radio introduces five unique stations, each offering its own musical identity and atmosphere:

  • Rust FM
  • Escape
  • PUMP IT!
  • Pop Gear
  • Roadio

The stations cover a variety of genres, including rock, electronic, pop, American roots music, and relaxing lo-fi tracks. For content creators, the Escape station has been specifically designed to be stream-safe, helping avoid copyright claims while broadcasting gameplay.

A new radio widget has also been added, displaying station information, song titles, and artist names while driving. Players can customise the widget through the F6 Widget Options menu.

Improved Material System Brings More Realistic Cabins

Version 1.60 introduces a significant overhaul to truck interior visuals through the new Improved Material System.

The update enhances how materials such as leather, plastic, fabric, and metal react to lighting conditions, creating more realistic and detailed cabin environments. Thanks to improved dynamic reflections and lighting technology, interiors now feel more natural, even during night driving or poor weather.

Lighting Improvements

The development team has also made several refinements to global lighting across the game.

These changes focus on:

  • Improved exposure balancing
  • Better contrast levels
  • Enhanced weather visuals
  • More consistent lighting throughout the world

While subtle, the adjustments help create a more polished and realistic driving experience.

New Volvo FH Series 6 Customisation Options

Fans of Volvo trucks will be pleased to hear that the Volvo FH Series 6 is receiving additional customisation options.

New aerodynamic components include:

  • Updated roof deflectors
  • Black aerodynamic A-pillar trims
  • New Aero cabin styling options

The additions are based on the latest real-world Volvo designs and aim to improve both appearance and aerodynamic efficiency.

New Job Details Widget

Another highly requested feature arriving in 1.60 is the Job Details Widget.

Accessible through the F6 Widget Options menu, the widget provides key information without needing to pause gameplay, including:

  • Cargo type
  • Cargo weight
  • Delivery destination
  • Job income
  • Remaining delivery time

The GPS system has also been updated to display estimated arrival dates and times, alongside remaining travel time and distance.

Expanded Rest Mechanic

Long-haul drivers will now have greater control over their rest periods thanks to the new Expanded Rest Mechanic.

Instead of being restricted to fixed sleep durations, players can now choose:

  • How long they wish to rest
  • What time they would like to wake up

The fatigue system has also been redesigned and split into two separate systems:

Rest State

Represented by a bed icon, this measures driver tiredness and gradually decreases while driving. Resting restores the value.

Mandatory Break

Represented by a "P" icon, this follows legal driving regulations. In Euro Truck Simulator 2, drivers can drive for up to 10 hours before taking a mandatory break, which requires nine consecutive hours of rest.

The new system aims to create a more authentic trucking experience while giving players additional flexibility.
